Q: Can I register to vote on Election Day?A: A person may register to vote not less than thirty days before an election, or at a primary or general election.
Qualified voters can register and vote at the polls on election day provided they satisfy the following qualifications:
Must be a citizen of the United States.
Must be a citizen of the United States.
Must be 18 years of age on election day.
Must be a resident of Sheridan County and resident of the precinct for which you register.
Must not be registered to vote in any other jurisdiction unless you complete a voter registration withdrawal form.
Not currently adjudicated mentally incompetent.
Must not have been convicted of a felony, or if convicted you must have had your civil rights restored.
It WILL take you longer to register AND vote, so plan ahead!
Q. When can I vote?
A: The polls in Sheridan County open at seven in the morning and remain open until seven at night.
Q. Does my vote really make a difference?
A: "Just" one vote can and often does make a difference in the outcome of an election.
Q. Is my registration current?
A: You only need to register once while living in Wyoming provided you vote in each General Election. If you miss voting in a General Election, you will be sent a notice of reinstatement before your name is removed from the registry list. If you move permanently to a different county or state, you must re-register in that county or state. If you move temporarily from Sheridan County (military, college, etc) and your intent is to return, you may remain registered and vote absentee. If you move to a different address within the County or change your name, please notify the Election Office in person, by mail, or by phone.
Q. What is a Party Declaration?
A: You must declare a political party affiliation in order to vote for political party candidates at the PRIMARY ELECTION. This declaration can be made at the time you register or at the polls on Primary Election day. If you do not want to declare a party preference, you may vote only on non-partisan candidates and issues at the Primary Election. A party affiliation need NOT be declared at the General Election in November
