Q: If I notice issues with parcel boundaries on the county's interactive mapping framework (IMF) system or layers I have purchsed who do I call?A: The Sheridan County Assessor's office maintains the county parcel (ownership) mapping and therefore should be contacted if there is a possible discrepancy. Most other layers in the map are maintained by the IT/GIS department.
Q: How do I obtain the rights to logon to the IMF site so I can have full access to all of the tools and functionality of the site?
A: Contact the IT/GIS department in order to schedule a 2 hour demonstration of the site and you can get a free subscription to the site until Jan. 1, 2008. After Jan. 1 a yearly fee will be applied if you choose to continue using the site.
Q: How do I use the guest account on the IMF site and is it free?
A: Once you click launch map from the sites launch page you will be asked for a username and password, simply click logon as guest and you will automatically be logged in. The guest account will remain free to anyone with internet access.
Q: Can GIS data be purchased from the IT/GIS Department?
A: Yes. Currently the all data that is created by any office in the county is available based on the prices listed on our price list.
Q: Do I have to sign a data use agreement in order to purchase data from the county?
A: Yes. The county requires the party to sign a data use agreement when purchasing data.
Q: I’m doing a project for Sheridan County and need data to help complete the project, do I have to pay for data also?
A: Government agencies and entities performing work for the County of Sheridan will not be charged for the department’s products or services. This exemption will be determined on a case by case basis.
Q: I have a question about the internet mapping framework, can I call the department directly with questions?
A: Yes, however the best method for contacting the department is via e-mail. Please consider going though the tutorial provided under the Help tab or on the launch page prior to calling.
Q: Can I purchase paper maps from the IT/GIS department?
A: Yes, check the pricing on the price list. Premade maps are available for a fixed price. Custom maps vary depending upon size and time spent creating the map.
Q: I want a county road map, where can I get one?
A: County road maps are available for $12 from the Public Works Department.
Q: Where do I go to get an address assigned?
A: An application for address, building permit, or zoning permit must be submitted to the Public Works Department prior to the IT/GIS department assigning an address. The Public Works Department will then pass the application to the IT/GIS department who will then assign an address.
Q: Can I pay the county to scan or print plotter size color or black and white maps or other large media items?
A: Yes, check the pricing on the price list.
