FAQs

Q.  When are you going to treat my road with chloride?
A.  Each year certain county roads are scheduled for treatment with chloride.  The Road & Bridge department can indicate if a road is scheduled for treatment and the approximate time period that it will be treated.  An offer to provide a water source is a great aid to the crews applying the chloride.

Q.  My road is rough.  When is it going to be bladed?
A.  You can call the Road & Bridge department and you will be asked to provide your name and phone number.  The district operator will be contacted for the approximate date that maintenance may be performed and someone will call you back with the information.

Q.  Why is my road always last to be plowed?
Each district operator has a set route to plow with the school bus routes being first.  Operators watch the weather information that is available to them and make plans based on that information.

Q.  Someone hit a deer on the road in front of my house.  Can someone remove it?
A.  County operators do not remove dead deer from the roadway.

Q.  When do the County Road crews start plowing the snow?
A.  County Road crews are dispatched for snow plowing or sanding when there is an accumulation of 4" or more of fallen snow or the County Engineer is notified by the County Sheriff that dangerous conditions exist.

Q.  The trees and shrubs are sticking out in the roadway blocking our view.  Who trims them?
Property owners should trim trees and shrubs that are sticking out into the right-of-way strips from their property into the roadway .  County Road and Bridge crews will periodically contact landowners about the encroachment conditions.  If the encroachment is not trimmed to eliminate the existing condition, the County Road and Bridge will contact the landowner about mitigating the conditions.
