The
Sheridan County Sheriff's Office Records Division is the heartbeat of
our operation. Our Staff are dedicated to serving the citizens of
Sheridan County, and will often be your first point of contact when
requesting services or information from the Sheriff's Office.

Beyond
answering some of the more frequently asked law-related questions our
office recieves, our Records Division is also responsible for
processing Concealed Weapons Permit applications, SCSO issued
Identification Cards, and Fingerprinting - which is often required when
applying for jobs that relate to child care, education, and more. Our
Records Division is also responsible for handling all Civil Process
papers that come into our office to be served in Sheridan County. |

Applications for new Concealed Weapons Permits or renewals may be obtained at the Sheridan County Sheriff's Office. The cost
for a new permit is $81.00. This cost includes having our staff notarize your
application. If you choose to have someone else notarize the application, the
application fee is $79.00.
Concealed Weapon Permits are valid for a period of 5 years, and can be
renewed an unlimited number of times. The cost for renewal prior to the
expiration of your CWP is $50.00. However, if you allow the CWP to
expire before you renew it, there is an additional $10.00 fee.
In order to apply for a CWP, you must provide a copy of your Hunter's
Safety Certificate, DD-214 from the Military, or another proof of
firearm proficiency. You will also need your driver's license and will
have to be fingerprinted for your application. Fingerprinting is done
on Wednesdays & Fridays from 8:30am to 12:00pm at the Sheriff's
Office.

Identification Cards are available at the Sheriff's Office, and may be
obtained on Wednesday's & Friday's between 8:30am and 12:00pm. In
order to obtain a Sheriff's Office Identification Card, you are
required to produce your birth certificate, or a certified copy of it.
In addition, you must provide at least one other form of identification
(Social Security Card, Driver's License, etc.).
A Sheriff's Office ID will not the same as a State Issued ID, and so
does not replace any requirements you may have for a State ID Card. If
you need a State of Wyoming Identification Card, please contact the
Wyoming Driver's License Bureau.
Sheriff's Office ID Cards are $20.00 cash.

Fingprinting is available at the Sheriff's Office on Wednesday's &
Friday's from 8:30am to 12:00pm. Many businesses related to child care
or education will require fingerprints for a background investigation,
and we are happy to provide this service.
Fingerprinting services are available for $5.00 cash per fingerprint card.

Civil Process papers are handled by our Records Division and are
delivered by our dedicated Civil Process Server. The cost for service
on all civil papers is $50.00 per action or
per address. The Sheriff's Office will attempt to serve the paper three
times for that fee. An additional fee of $5.00 will be charged for each
additional attempt at service.
If you have papers to be served by the Sheriff's Office, please mail
the papers to the Sheridan County Sheriff's Office at 54 West 13th
Street, Sheridan, Wyoming 82801. You must include a self addressed
stamped envelope so that the service return may be sent to you. Please
include any stipulations for your state that must be followed. papers
will not be served unless pre-payment is received.
NOTICE:
Be sure to include biographical identifiers in your request for
service. The Sheriff's Office requires such information to ensure that
the proper person is being served. If your request for service does not
include at least a proper name and birthdate, your request for service
will be denied.
