Mission Statement
The Sheridan County Community Emergency Response Team’s mission is to promote, organize, administer and train a volunteer group to assist professional responders during disaster recovery efforts and to educate our families, friends and neighbors in the necessary skills to meet their immediate needs during and immediately after a disaster.In 95 percent of all emergencies, the victim or bystander provides the first immediate assistance on the scene. Would you know what to do? No matter where you live, no matter who you are, we all have a role in hometown preparedness. What role will YOU play?
We will provide any group interested in preparedness and disaster mitigation with training.
The Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) Program teaches participants about disaster preparedness and trains teams of volunteers that can help professional first responders during disasters. The program provides training in basic disaster response skills, such as fire extinguisher skills, light search and rescue, and disaster medical operations. CERT volunteers also participate in community events throughout the year.
Taking CERT training does not obligate you to join a CERT team (you are welcome to join!!) and there is no fee for the class. All class materials are provided.
For parents, students, teachers, scouting and youth organizations, community leaders, communities of faith, administrators and members of clubs, and civic organizations.
