Sheridan County Office of Emergency Management is excited to announce that the new explosives K9’s name will be Scout. All three of Sheridan County School Districts participated in the vote to name the new dog. 48 classes participated in the process and overwhelmingly Scout was the name chosen by the students.
Scout will arrive on January 2nd after completing initial training. Scout and Emergency Management Coordinator Jesse Ludikhuize will train together for approximately three weeks before becoming certified in explosives detection. Scout and Ludikhuize will then be available to proactively screen for and respond to suspected explosive devices throughout Wyoming.
Be sure to follow Scout as our new Sheridan County K9 on Facebook at https://www.facebook.com/sheridank9scout Pictures of Scouts training, daily life and work will be posted there.
Thank you to Sheridan Seed and Company for sponsoring the purchase of food for Scout.
The purchase of Scout, training and salary is paid for by a grant from the State Homeland Security Program from the Department of Homeland Security and Administered by the Wyoming Office of Homeland Security.
