10:00 a.m. March 14, 2020 UPDATE
It is important the community continues to practice prevention measures outlined by the CDC and Wyoming Department of Health (WDH) guidelines. We are all in this together.
Sheridan County currently has one presumptive positive case of the COVID-19 virus. Thus far, all other testing in Sheridan County has been negative.
Late yesterday evening, WDH announced another presumptive positive case of the COVID-19 virus has been identified in Fremont County. The Montana Department of Public Health and Human Services has reported 4 presumptive positive cases in Montana, with one in Yellowstone County.
Sheridan County School Districts 1, 2, and 3 will continue normal operations with minor adjustments to large gatherings such as concerts. Their guidance has come from State Superintendent Jillian Balow and Dr. Alexia Harris, Wyoming’s state health officer. Their decisions were based on the recommendations and guidelines from the CDC and WDH.
The public is encouraged to keep things in perspective and follow guidance from the Center for Disease Control, the Wyoming Health Department, and/or their medical provider, regarding steps in dealing with this virus.
Follow these guidelines:
• Stay home if sick (but if you are concerned it may be more than just a cold, please consult your physician).
• Elderly and vulnerable individuals should avoid gatherings of 250 or more people.
• Clean and disinfect frequently touched objects and surfaces using a regular household cleaning spray or wipe.
• Wash your hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds. If soap and water are not available, use an alcohol-based hand sanitizer with at least 60% alcohol. Always wash hands with soap and water if hands are visibly dirty.
