SHERIDAN COUNTY MONITORING NOVEL CORONAVIRUS (Special Update March 15, 2020 UPDATE)

Wyoming Governor, Mark Gordon, has recommended closure of all Wyoming schools beginning immediately through at least April 3, 2020. Sheridan County School Districts 1, 2, and 3, along with Holy Name and Martin Luther Grammar Schools will be closed beginning Monday, March 16, 2020 through at least April 3, 2020. Please refer to the school districts’ links to obtain further information and guidelines as they are updated.

As the Governor stated, “this recommendation is not necessarily based on epidemiological best practices but is an attempt to allow schools and communities to prepare to operate in a way that mitigates community spread of COVID-19 and minimizes negative economic impacts locally and statewide.”

Sheridan County Health Officer, Dr. Ian Hunter strongly urges parents to keep children home and not gather with friends. It is fully understood that these closures will create hardships for families in Sheridan County.

A joint press conference will be recorded and released by the IMT on Monday, March 16, 2020. The press conference will include the IMT, Sheridan County School Districts 1,2, and 3, the City of Sheridan, Sheridan Memorial Hospital, and the VA Medical Center. More information and guidance will be provided by this joint press conference.
