About the NumbersSheridan County Residents: all Sheridan County residents, even those who may be outside of Sheridan County at the time of illness.
Laboratory Confirmed Case: the total number of cases a laboratory has confirmed are positive for COVID-19. As a cumulative total, this number includes both symptomatic and asymptomatic cases, as well as active and recovered cases.
Active Confirmed Cases: the number of cases that a laboratory has confirmed are positive for COVID-19, and are in within the first days of infection and/or actively experiencing symptoms. Active cases are currently being monitored by public health staff and include both symptomatic and asymptomatic cases.
Total Probable Cases: the total number of cases where a person experienced symptoms of COVID-19, and tested positive for COVID-19 using a rapid antigen test, but their illness was not confirmed by a laboratory (PCR) test.
Active Probable Cases: the number of people who are currently experiencing COVID-19 symptoms and/or have recently tested positive for COVID-19 using a rapid antigen test, but their illness has not been confirmed by a laboratory (PCR) test.
Recovered: the total number of laboratory-confirmed Sheridan County cases, where the person is no longer symptomatic. We do not report recovered nonresidents, as we transfer cases to their home county once the resident is no longer in Sheridan County.
Deaths: For Sheridan County, this number represents residents who have passed away due to COVID-19 and includes deaths that occur outside of the county. Deaths included in this count must have COVID-19 listed as a cause of death on the death certificate; there is a delay in reporting new deaths until they are confirmed.
Please note: Any number provided is a snapshot in time. As Wyoming Department of Health and Sheridan County Public Health staff are continually monitoring and updating information in our shared data system, our numbers change. Discrepancies in reported numbers from each agency are most likely attributed to the difference in time the data was referenced.
